It should also be noted, that the following suggestions are popular areas to go. Sharks are gentle creatures when left unbothered and are usually more afraid of divers than divers are of them. For the best chance of swimming with sharks, book a trip to the Maldives from November to late March. Calmer waters during the winter season allow swimmers to see the sharks more clearly. Once you arrive, head to Whale Shark Point near Maamigili Island. This area is a protected space and home to at least 80 sharks. It is a popular area for scuba diving and snorkeling. Other amazing shark waters can be found at Rasdhoo Atol. This area is not only a great site to see sharks, but a great place to view plenty of other marine life as well. Be sure to try out an early morning dive for the greatest chance to see a Hammerhead Shark. For those who prefer staying on dry land, there's plenty to do on Rasdhoo Island while waiting around for your adventurous friends and family, as it is one of the most populated islands in the Maldives. Finally, for those who are experienced divers and enjoy an adrenaline rush, head on over to Fuvahmulah, an area also known as "Tiger's Zoo." Nearly 200 tiger sharks, which are some of the world's most aggressive sharks, live in this area.
