Michael Douglas, 81, took to Instagram to share a video of his trip to the Arctic.

Located in one of the coldest regions on Earth, he featured himself bundled up in a thick winter coat and a protective helmet. The Basic Instinct actor was not alone, however – “a little team” accompanied Douglas on his trip as well.

“Welcome to the Arctic. I was in Antarctica last week. This is the Arctic, we are out here on the border with Russia,” he said.

“The morning sun is coming, it’s around 10 o’clock, and it will be dark around 2 o’clock.”

In addition, Douglas included photos from his trip to the freezing continent, revealing the expanse of ice and snow. He also featured one of the tours he went on, which presented a hotel made entirely of ice—slabs of ice were transformed into beds, for example.

Although the Arctic is not a popular vacation spot for many tourists, there are accessible places to visit for travelers to make the most of their trip. The Arctic Circle is an imaginary line that includes Iceland, parts of Canada, and parts of Russia.

Inside the Arctic Circle, tourists can take tours to see the famous Northern Lights or visit Spitsbergen to see polar bears in their natural habitat.

Douglas explained, “Here are some rooms in the ice hotel. Everybody’s got like … sculptors made into the wall, just wild. These are all ice blocks, a snow station, look at this.”

The actor captioned the video. “Good morning from the Arctic 🇳🇴! It’s freezing out here! Have a great weekend! MD.”

Previously, his wife, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and their two children, Dylan and Carys, accompanied Douglas to Antarctica. Last month, in January, the actor posted a picture of himself and his family on a boat, all clad in matching life vests and accessories. However, he did not explain in his recent video whether his family was with him in Antarctica. He captioned the post, “Greetings from Antarctica!”
