Traveling with children is a very different experience and can take an adjustment from exploring the world prior to having kids. Here are a few family-friendly tips on traveling to Hawaii like the Mahomes family.

Spend the day at the Maui Ocean Center, which was recently ranked in the top 10 aquariums in the world. The center offers tours and encounters. One of the most popular virtual encounters features humpback whales. This 3D experience follows the whale’s journey from Alaska to Hawaii and its songs and newborn calf hold the attention of even the youngest visitors. The aquarium also boasts the colorful marine life of the area, including sharks, stingrays, sea turtles, and vibrant fish. It is open 365 days per year. For non-residents, children under four get in free, children aged 4-12 can get in for $28.95, seniors (65+) pay $37.95 and adults (13+) will be admitted for $44.95.

For families with children who are a bit older, look no further than KapohoKine Adventures for a day of fun. There are two tours, one based out of Hilo and one out of Kona. Both feature rainforest excursions, beaches, waterfalls and volcanoes.

There can’t be a list of things to do in Hawaii without including spending time in the clear blue waters. Snorkeling is another great family-friendly activity. Look into Molokini Crater and Ahihi Kinau Natural Area Reserve for the best places to snorkel off the coast of Maui. Be sure to check out Magic Sands Beach Park and Kealakekua Bay are some favorites off the big island.
